"Row No 88 from Middlegate St. to Howard St., - at the South East corner of Row No 88 lived, in this present century, a baker named Bassingthwaite whose ship-biscuits were long celebrated for their excellence."
Note - A gravestone in Yarmouth churchyard (one of the oldest remaining) is to the memory of Samuel Bassingthwaighte, who died 1690, aged 50. In 1671 on his marriage with Elisabeth, daughter of William Rutter of Norwick, he made a settlement of messuage, then newly built, on the outside of Middlegate St. which he had purchased from John Woodroffe in 1667.
