Minutes Of Meeting Held On 2/6/2014

Peter welcomed everyone to the meeting.
Present: Peter Ireland, Heather Gall, Ian Gall, Jan Bickerton, Beryl King, Doreen Beard, Ruth Sargent, Margaret Atkinson, Ros Balston
Apologies:
Minutes: The minutes of the previous meeting were read by Heather. Ruth moved and Beryl seconded that the minutes be accepted as read.
Business arising:
- Peter saw Brendan Taylor with regard to cleaning up the site and it will be attended to in the near future. The Wambo map is in storage at the Council.
- A Schrag wedding has been booked for the 11th October.
- The pavers have been repaired by Brett Zeller.
- If a Super Dump is to be built at Jandowae, Margaret and Heather will write letters to the Council requesting that the speed limit through town be reduced to 40kph. The Council is to be contacted to see if this dump is going to be a reality.
- Ian and Peter are to shorten the front door.
- Accounts are to be issued to Craig Ellis $60 and Matthew Henning $50 for the use of our grounds for their recent weddings. A letter is to accompany the accounts pointing out that a lot of work goes into preparing the grounds and platform for the ceremony.
Correspondence :
Inwards — Application for In-King Assistance from the Council. $2,000 a year is available to beautify the area. Suggestions were to apply for drainage and plumbing for the old school or for a sprinkler system to be installed around the school.
Outwards — None
Treasure's Report: Ruth presented her report. Income — none. Payments — $1750 to reimburse Peter for the timber and $48 for fuel. The Cr. Balance is $5,113.06. The following accounts were passed for payment — Jan $8.20 for sprinklers, 5 Star expenses for next Sunday. Ruth moved this report. Seconded Doreen. $15,906 in the Fixed Deposit.
General Business:
- John Coleman has the history of the Bushgrove school and it states that the Jondowie school was first opened in 28.3.1887. The second school was built in 1898 and consisted of a room 21' by 14' with a front verandah and in 1909 a room 11' by 14' and a back verandah were added on to the original. A garden, consisting of 6 shade trees, 12 rose trees and hedges, was planted.
- The Roster for Timber Town Weekend — Saturday 9 to 10 Jan and Val, 10 to 11 Ruth and Beryl, 11 to 12 Peter and Grace, 12 to 1 Ian and Heather, 1 to 2 Margaret and Philip, 2 to 3?
- The Service on the Sunday is at 9 and Morning Tea will be provided. Members will stay and mingle later in the morning .The nursery rhyme "Hey Diddle Diddle the Cat and the Fiddle" will be illustrated on the tree at the front entrance. The rubbish under the building is still to be removed. The graffiti on the platform is to be removed. Peter is to order 4 windows (approximate cost of $500 each) for the school.
- Ros brought along the old soft drink bottles to be displayed in the kitchen. The signs for the Cottage, the Shearer's Quarters, the old Creamery, the Creek, the Windmill and the School are to be prepared. New guttering is to be installed on the school and the drainage is to be looked at.
The next meeting will be held on the 14th July at 10.30am at the Cottage.
