Minutes Of Meeting Held On Saturday 8/11/2014

Peter welcomed those present to the meeting and thanked the members for their attendance..

Present: Peter Ireland, Heather Gall, Ian Gall, Jan Bickerton, Doreen Beard, Margaret Atkinson, Beryl King, Beryl McKenna, Ros Balston

Apologies: Sally Maunder

Minutes: The minutes of the previous general meeting were read by Heather. Ian moved that the minutes be accepted as read. Seconded Jan.

Correspondence: Heather moved that the inwards correspondence be received and the outwards endorsed.

Inwards — Western Downs Regional Council re. Australia Day Breakfast, Office of Fair Trading, Insurance Advisernet Receipt, Dept. of Transport and Main Roads, Noela Wilson (Garden Club $50).

Outwards — Western Downs Council re. Insurance, In-kind Assistance, Howard Hobbs.

Treasurer's Report: The Cr. Balance is similar to last month $7731. The reinvestments have been made. Margaret moved and Doreen seconded the adoption of this report. Income on hand — $15 Donation Box, $50 Garden Club. An account of $90 has been sent to the Schrag family. The extra windows should cost approximately $2,100.

General Business:

• The Gambling Community Benefit Fund Grant is to be lodged by the 30th November. Lennie Veiver's painter is to supply his quote to paint the external & internal walls & the roof of the old school. The money will not be available until May next year if we are successful.
• Peter has ordered the timber for the 2 internal walls (15ml wide) as these boards have to be made. Lennie will be back on the job in about 2 weeks.
• Jan reported that a 1926 school had slats on their verandah.
• We are to host the official Australia Day Function for Jandowae. Details to be finalised at our next meeting which will be held on the 13th December at 9am.
• Peter is trying to obtain a write up about Jandowae and the school that was published in 1961 in the Dalby Herald. It was suggested that we make an advanced search in Trove.
• The Year 2 class will visit the cottage on Friday 14th November about 11am. There will be a guided tour and they will have lunch at the cottage. Jan will be assisted by Ros and Beryl.
• A booking has been made for a Bundaberg Coach tour on the morning of the Jimbour Opera (25th July 2015). Morning Tea to be provided by members at a cost of $5. (20-40 to attend).
• Peter will write another article on the school for the Magazine. Judy McQueen donated a Match Box Container.
