The editor of the Warburtonian Tracts, Dr. Parr (p. 192), considers the allegorical interpretation
'as completely refuted in a most clear, elegant, and decisive work of criticism; which could not, indeed, derive authority from the greatest name: but to which the greatest name might with propriety have been affixed'.
