MINUTES of meeting held on Monday 7th July 2008

At The Community Centre at 7.30 p.m.

1. Present— Ros.Balston, Jan Bickerton, Violy Geist, Mary Cleary, Beryl King, Darcy Maunder and Vince Scouller.

2. APOLOGIES— Betty Wassell, Ian & Heather Gall, Doreen Beard.

3. MINUTES OF THE PREVIOUS MEETING
3.1. Moved by Mary Cleary and seconded by Jan Bickerton that the minutes of the previous meeting be confirmed as read    CARRIED

4. BUSINESS ARISING

4.1 Results so far indicate that the sale of raffle tickets is proceeding satisfactorily.

4.2 The Secretary advised that Brad from the Jandowae Hotel had advised that the ticket machine was operating but the fluoro lights needed replacing. Ezy Fundraising had been contacted and would attend to the problem this week.

4.3 President Ros thanked all who worked at the cottage over the Timbertown weekend.

5. INWARD CORRESPONDENCE

5.1 Jandowae State School —Thanks for donation to Rock Eisteddfod.

Moved by Violy Geist and seconded by Beryl King that the inward correspondence be received. CARRIED

6. OUTWARD CORRESPONDENCE—Nil

7. BUSINESS ARISING FROM THE CORRESPONDENCE—Nil

8. TREASURER’S REPORT

The report for the month shows   Balance B/F $5347.51
Income            284.50
Balance          5632.01
Less Expenses             135.35
Credit Balance        $5496.66

Moved by Violy Geist and seconded by Jan Bickerton that the treasurer’s report is accepted as circulated and all accounts be passed for payment CARRIED.

9. GENERAL BUSINESS

9.1 Darcy Maunder advised that there was a one-person slab hut on a property not far from Boondooma. He showed photos of this and an old rain gauge. It is his understanding that the owner would like to see the hut removed and safely preserved. The hut measures approx 3 X 4 M and should be easily shifted.

Moved by Jan Bickerton and seconded by Beryl King that we have Darcy ask the owner regarding the possibility of having the hut removed to the Athlone Precinct. CARRIED

9.2 The painting has started on the dairy. A working bee will commence work on the exterior when fine  weather returns.

9.3 A working bee will be called to help arrange notices of description for items on display as a number of people do not know what they are looking at.

9.4 Members have been asked to look out for small tables to go with our chairs. Recent events have highlighted a need for tables’ approx 80-90cm.where you can put the cup, saucer & plate etc.

9.5 The Secretary was asked to write a letter of thanks to Mike & Ann Green for their donation of a small plough used in vegetable gardens.

9.6 It was resolved that we try and do something for Seniors week in August. Jan Bickerton is to see Marg. Curd. It is also hoped that we may be able to tape some of the old tales from our senior citizens.

9.7 Following a lot of visits during the past week it was resolved that we try to have the cottage open daily in June next year.

9.8 President Ros is to contact Council in an endeavour to have the street paving continued to the Doctors surgery and Hospital as well as the front of the Churches. At this time a question of pruning the trees in the streets will also be asked. Some people consider the low branches obstruct vision when reversing.

9.9 Moved by Vince Scouller and seconded by Mary Cleary that we purchase a drum of hydroseal to repair the trough. CARRIED

9.10 The President and Secretary are to work out a submission for an application to the Gaming Grants for finance to erect a ramp at the shearer’s cottage and to relocate the water tank near the bore.

10. CLOSE—As there was no further business the Chairman closed the meeting at 9.05 pm.

The next meeting will be held Monday 4th August 2008, At the Community Centre.
