Minutes of the Meeting held on Monday 8th October, 2012.

 

Present:  Jan Bickerton, Ian and Heather Gall, Beryl King, Doreen Beard, Ros Balston, Ruth Sargent

Apologies:  Peter Ireland, Margaret Atkinson, Daryl Donald,

Minutes:  Ian welcomed members to our meeting on the veranda at Athlone cottage.  The minutes of the previous meeting were read by Heather.  Jan moved and seconded Beryl that the minutes be accepted as read.

Business arising:  Ian and Heather attended the Council Meeting in the open forum and the presentation by

Ian led to a letter of approval from Ed Hoffman for our project and congratulating our committee on the job we are attempting to do in preserving the heritage of the Jandowae town and district.  Memberships are now due. 

Correspondence:  Heather moved and Ros seconded that the inwards be received and the outwards endorsed.   Inwards – Ed Hoffman, 2 letters Western Downs from Stephen Long the Facilities Manager, Small Museum Conference 19-21 October, Arrow Energy (new premises in Dalby).   Outwards – QGC Application, Incorporation Form,  Rotary, Lions, Tod Summerville (re. asbestos), Application for Refund for Public Liability Insurance for 2 years to the Council. Treasurer’s Report: Ruth presented her report and the Cr. balance is $10,575.97.There was no income for the month.  Payments – Insurance Advisernet $840.10, $45 Incorporation.  The Term Deposit balance is $7,135.22.  Ruth moved this report for adoption.  Seconded Doreen.

 General Business:  The willow trees are shooting and Jan suggested that a plank could be used to gain access to the island.  Ian, Jan and Peter are to attend to this matter.  

The application to QGC for funding was completed and lodged.  We requested the money for the relocation of the building, the removal of the asbestos, $4,000 for paint, $870 for electrical work and $330 for the plaque.  The total requested was $20,275.

Beryl and Tony poisoned the weeds in the front garden and we pass on our appreciation to them. 

The fee for the use of the Cultural Centre has been waived but our next meeting will once again be at Athlone Cottage on Monday, November 12th at 5pm.  The meeting closed at 6.15 pm.
