Jandowae And District Progress & Heritage Association Inc.

Minutes of The Meeting held on Monday 12th September, 2011

This meeting was chaired by our incoming President Peter Ireland.

The annual incorporation return is to be completed and returned to the Office of Fair Trading.

Jan Bickerton is to be reimbursed $30 which was our contribution to the digital photo frame which was presented to the Coopers at their farewell.

The Business Group sub committee is to become incorporated in their own right and Daryl is to make the necessary arrangements for this separation to take place.

Peter has sprayed the weeds in the creek and Morriseys are making the steel brackets to secure the window in the cottage.  If this work has not been begun, Ian and Peter may attend to it.  Peter is to check with Shaun.

Hilda Mandall’s photos which were taken after the major fire on our block are to be placed in the album at the cottage.

The insurance is due and Heather is to clarify what we are actually insured for with Darren Alps and to pay the appropriate amount. The account is for $895.53 which seems expensive.

Ros moved and Sally seconded that the insurance be paid.

Correspondence:  The Jandowae Timbertown Committee requested that we attend the meeting at the Centre on Tuesday 13th September at 7pm  as they would like our input for next year’s program to ensure that the festival is truly owned by the community.  Jan and Peter are to attend.  It was suggested that the Athlone precinct be used for the Poet’s Breakfast.  The story teller the “Old Fellar” has already been booked.  Ian moved and Beryl seconded that some other clubs may like to help us with the catering.

The memorial wood plaque for Vince Scouller is to be erected on the verandah and it was suggested that other names could be added to this in the future.

The Powerlink plaque is to be attached to the viewing platform.

The interpretative signs are to be positioned around the viewing platform so that when the cottage is not open, information will be available for our visitors.  Ros has quotes from N.S.W.  Signs would be made for the Cottage, the Shearer’s Quarters, the Dairy, Oven.  This will be our main topic for planning and discussion at our next meeting.

Members indicated that they are still interested in the feasibility of moving a barn from Ben Davison’s place in order to provide storage facilities.  The other option is to build a garden shed.

The meeting closed and the next meeting is to be held on the 10th October at 7.30pm.
