President's Report: This year we celebrated the 20th anniversary of Athlone Cottage and Timber Town Committee held the official opening at the Athlone precinct. The precinct was open on Saturday and hosted the church service Sunday. We were pleased to be part of the celebration. A grant from Wambo Wind Farm enabled us to renovate the second room in the shearer's quarters in which we can display the history of families and businesses in our district. The roof over the German wagon was extended to accommodate two Ned Kellys. The WDRC repaired the damage to the creek bank wall and replaced the bench seat. Visits were made by Highfield Senior Citizens, Dalby Vintage Car Club, Jandowae students from grade 5 and 6. Hopefully we can host more school children in the future. We hosted the Australia Day Breakfast, which was well supported by the local community and music was provided by the Brigalow Balladeers. And the Juniour Rugby League worked the BBQ. It is good to have several new members but we need new members from the younger generation. Peter announced his retirement as president after a term of 13 years and many improvements to the precinct in excess of $100,000 have been made. Peter thanked the committee members for their support and he intends to remain an active member.
