Following rumours that the Domicillary Care was going to be changed I wrote an e-mail (8/6/2016) to the CEO of the Council. At 11 am on the following day the Mayor telephoned me to confirm that the Council are reviewing their Aged Care facilities with the intention of expanding them and changing how they are administered; which of course means Restructuring them.
Decades of bitter experience has, or should have, taught us that Restructuring means less jobs, poorer services and higher prices, which is why the Australian community is struggling with unemployment and increasing prices for poorer services. However the Mayor wishes it known that this time it will be different because:
"the Council are reviewing their aged care facilities with the intention of identifying the best options for the continued growth of these facilities."
And he dismisses my list of misgivings by stating
