The President, Darryl Donald, presented this report.
There have been both highs and lows for the year. The lows has been the break and enters at the cottage, security lighting was installed but to no avail apparently. The highs for the year have been the completion of the shearer’s quarters and the cream room and the continual support of the local community.
Jan Bickerton has been heading up the committee’s catering jobs, which have gone vey well; Darryl thanks Jan and the other volunteers for their work.
The Small Equipments grant was used to purchase gardening equipment and a gazebo. The Interpretive Signage Grant is in the process of being used.
The Australia Day celebration has become the highlight of the year with many people enjoying the celebrations at the cottage. This year we had guests John Lazarou, and Mayor Ray Brown and four councillors attending. Shearing of the sheep and the butter making were added attractions at the celebrations
Another high was Jandowae winning the Keep Australia Beautiful Environmental Award, a big congratulations to all those who assisted with the work done on the creek at the cottage.
The sub committee Business Group is doing well, they organised and ran the Timbertown Festival in a very short amount of time. The Business Group have printed a re-run of the business broacher, and are continuing to run the shop local competition. They are also involved in organising an upcoming Melbourne Cup Day at the golf club as the show society is no longer holding one. The group is in the process of securing funds from the Council to run events like the Timbertown Festival. The youth group still run the Blue Light Disco and other function to involve the young people of the town.
The association continues to search for an appropriate building to use as a store room and also to make a final decision on the bakery. Negotiations with the council have been made to buy the shop next door for a future museum and to achieve a plan that may happen a long way down the track.
The committee had a number of DVD’s on the history of Jandowae for sale at the Timbertown Festival held on the long weekend in June, these DVD’s are still for sale at the cottage. For the Timbertown festival a church service was held at the cottage and the committee catered for the morning tea.
The committee has printed another sum of heritage broachers and Darryl thanks/congratulates Vince for his work on these.
The continual upkeep of the cottage is very time consuming giving that it is being done by a small number of volunteers, and the community owes these volunteers much thanks.
Darryl thanked Jan, Ros, Chris, Violy and all committee members for a job well done.
Moved by Darryl Donald that report be accepted as read; seconded by Heather Gall CARRIED
